OPEN CALL: The 4th International Biennial „Ecolibrium“
We cordially invite local and international artists to participate in the 4th International Biennial „Ecolibrium,“ hosted at the House of King Peter I in Belgrade, Serbia. The grand opening will take place on September 21st, 2026, at 7 PM.
The exhibition is dedicated to animals as both theme and motif, bringing together artists who draw their inspiration from the animal kingdom. Now in its fourth edition as the centrepiece of the event sharing its name, „Ecolibrium“ gathers prominent animalist artists alongside emerging talents.
The Biennial aims to foster the growth of the contemporary animalist art scene, exploring social discourse through diverse and deeply personal artistic visions.
The project was inspired by a heroic event from 2014 that touched hearts worldwide, when a small dachshund named Leo saved a little girl from a much larger Bullmastiff. Tragically, Leo succumbed to his injuries two days later. In 2015, the citizens of Pančevo honoured his bravery by erecting a monument in the Park Narodna Bašta (People’s Garden Park), where his statue still watches over the children’s playground.
