The Fifth International Biennial of Printmaking / call for arstist 2022.
The Fifth International Biennial of Printmaking, organized by “The Platform for the Promotion of the Art of Multiple Originals”, takes place in September 2022. The aim of the Biennial is to provide institutional support in artists’ professional promotion, to encourage and raise interest for this artistic discipline among other active participants in art and culture, as well as
among a wider audience at the national and international level.
GENERAL COMPETITION CONDITIONS
The Competition is open to all professional artists, theorists, and researchers, as well as to the students of the final years of basic studies at the faculties of fine and applied arts. The Biennial has no thematic constraints.
THE FIRST PHASE OF THE COMPETITION
lasts from September 12. 2021. to March 1 st 2022.
The first phase of the competition is online. The competition material is supposed to be sent to the email address of the Biennial: office@graphicacak.com Exhibition categories in which the authors can participate:
• Large format
• Miniature
• Ex-libris
Each author can apply for the competition in one or more exhibition categories and program segments.
For the main exhibition of the Biennial the authors can send:
*not more than three works of large format, longer side to 100cm, or
*not more than five works of small format, longer side to 30cm.
*not more than five unequipped works of maximum dimensions
20x20cm (dimensions of a sheet of paper) for the Ex-libris exhibition category
The first phase of the competition is online. The authors can send both spatial and ambient installations, the works that stand in public space, video works that are made as a segment of graphic production or an independent work based on the character of graphic discipline, objects, books of the authors, works printed on various surfaces or some other works that present multi/interdisciplinary, hybrid, experimental or discursive approach to printmaking.
It’s necessary for the works to be changeless so that they won’t change their physical stability during the exhibition, except if it is the concept of the presentation. If the works need special technical work and conditions of display, the authors are supposed to display and dismantle the works on their own. The Organizer will provide the space for the installation of the work and basic technical support. For specificity of each situation the
authors can email the Organizer of the Biennial.
The main exhibition of the Biennial will traditionally be displayed in the space of the Cultural Centre. The accompanying program of the Biennial is the segment of the national selection of the artists from Mexico. The solo exhibition Victor Manuel Hemandez Castillo from Mexico, the winner of the Grand Prix in 2020. One can apply for the competition with the works made in all traditional techniques and modern processes of printing and copying, but reproductions and photographs won’t be taken in consideration.
In the first phase of the competition the authors are supposed to:
1. Fill each item in the application form that can be downloaded on the official internet page of the Biennial: https://www.-graphicacak.com/biennial-2022/
2. With the filled form you are supposed to attach the digital reproductions of your works in the form of digital files in JPEG
or TIFF formats with a resolution of 300dpi.
3. The size of each file can’t be larger than 5MB.
4. The mentioned documentation above should be sent to email: office@graphicacak.com with the following notice in the heading “Application for the Competition of the Biennial 2022 __ category__ the author’s name and surname.
5. You are to apply in the period between September 12. 2021 and March 01. 2022. A separate segment of the Biennial is a conference program with academic presentations. The regulations of application for this program segment of the Biennial are attached.
Applying for the competition, the author agrees that the Organizer of the Biennial has the right to exhibit, reproduce and publish his works for promoting reasons without previous informing the author. The organizer is obliged to put the name of the author properly in all printed and electronic promotion publications. You are to submit the works that have been made in the last two years. The works that were submitted at the previous Biennial won’t be accepted. All the candidates will be informed by email about the results of the first phase of the selection no later than April 12th, 2022 on the official internet page of the Biennial and on social networks.
THE SECOND PHASE OF THE COMPETITION
lasts from March 10th to July 1 st 2022.
The authors whose works passed the first phase of selection should send their unequipped original prints, without a frame or a passepartout. The works must be delivered to the noted address not later than July 1 st (the works that are delivered after this date won’t be taken into consideration). When sending your works, you are obliged to pay a participation fee of 35 euros.
It makes possible to take part in all categories of the Biennial. The participation fees cover the administrative and post expenses. The participation fees are paid in the second phase of the competition when sending your works.

The jury consisted of extremely professional experts will select the works of art that fulfill the conditions of the Fifth International Biennial of Printmaking. If original works deviate significantly from the description or reproductions sent for the first phase in a visual, aesthetic, and technical sense, the Organizer, for this reason, has the right to disqualify them from the further selection and judging. Only authors’ works can be sent to the competition. Copyright infringement, done in any way, is exclusively responsibility of the person who sent the work at the competition. The authors are to send their works by post taking into account the following:

2. The application form with the information about the author and his works must be applied in printed form.
3. ALL THE RELEVANT SPACES in the form must be printed out by a computer.

By sending their works the authors are considered to agree with the rules of the Biennial, which should be confirmed by marking certain spaces and by their signature. The Organizer of the Biennial will be grateful to the artists who decide to donate their works to the fund of the Biennial Collection. If you want to donate your work, please fill in and sign the special form STATEMENT ON DONATION. Donated works become an inalienable part of the Collection and they will be used in the organization of thematic periodical exhibitions. If it’s necessary, you can state the value of the work in MINIMAL amount. The works are to be sent as letters or printed matter. The authors are responsible for all postage of sending their works. The authors are obliged to provide all necessary accompanying customs documentation and to pay the whole service. If they don’t adhere to these rules, the Organizer of the Biennial won’t bear the postage and the obligation of additional engagement on arrival of the works and they will automatically be sent back to the authors. The works are to be sent in hard packages, cardboard tubes or in another way, protected from physical damage. The damage caused during the transport from the author to the Organizer will be recorded, photographed and sent back to the author for inspection. The Organizer takes responsibility for the works from the moment of reception to the moment of handing in at the post office. The Organizer doesn’t take responsibility for the damage caused during the transport of the prints from and to the author. The works will be sent back to the authors in original packaging.

AWARDS
BIENNIAL GRAND PRIX prize money of 1.000 euros and a solo exhibition within the accompanying activities of the Sixth Biennial of Printmaking 2024.
AWARD FOR INVENTIVENESS IN PRINTMAKING AND TECHNICAL EXCEPTIONALITY prize money of 500 euros

The jury has the right not to give all the awards if they think that the works are not of satisfactory quality THE ORGANIZER LEAVES THE POSSIBILITY OF GIVING PLAQUES AND MEDALS TO SOME OTHER PARTICIPANTS. The awards will be given in the course of the opening ceremony of the Biennial. If an awarded artist can’t attend the ceremony, the certificate on participation and the award will be sent by post with the work and the catalogue.
NOTE: The Organizer reserves the right, in the case of extraordinary circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, to change the dates of applying, taking place of the Biennial or some other date determined in advance. CATALOGUE: The Organizer of the Biennial will publish the catalogue where all the authors that have participated in the exhibitions of the Biennial will be mentioned. All the exhibitors will be given a free copy of the catalogue, the certificate of donation and participation.
