Expanded and new media Triennial 2022.
FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION OF SERBIA (ULUS)
Department of expanded media
announces
an open call for submission of artworks for the exhibition
6th International Triennial of expanded media 2022
under title:
UNRELEASED MATERIALS
Department of expanded media of ULUS is organizing the 6th International Extended Media Triennial with the aim of providing insight into recent production in the field of multimedia art and new media art on Serbian and international scene. This year’s edition is divided between two terms, the first part will take place in June 2022, and the second in the same period in 2023.
The title of the exhibition refers to works (although they may have been realized in an earlier period) as well as recent works that have not been publicly shown on the following topics:
- view or perspective at the external multimedia landscape around us, and its destabilization in the form of technological error Errors in the landscape / ErrorScapes
We invite artists to submit works (in all techniques and formats) dealing with LANDSCAPE without restrictions (linguistic, historical, archival, gestural, imaginary, ecological, real, parallel, programmed, dreamed) as well as the topic ERRORS (which is in the very essence of the mechanism of technology), but also its extensions, formats, variations and representations.
An error appears here as an element of technology, as a space of emptiness (un) filled with information data in an (in) correct way. What is incomprehensible to protocols or what arises in the mismatch of the relationship between man and machine thus becomes one of the rare spaces of freedom in the digital universe.
- artistic self-reflections in relation to one’s own position, goals and motives in the contemporary art context. ArtScapes – (Perfect) Artist Wanna Be?
In the second proposed topic, we invite artists to submit works in all techniques and formats that deal with the inner landscape of self-reflection:The modern age in which we are oversaturated with perfectly designed forms, ideal representations and uncompromising commercialization, offers new priorities of creation. Hence, new question arises: It may be that, inspiration, motivation and creativity of artists are retreating in front of the dictates of the art system? Knowledge of the internal processes that drive him to create and introspection during the very act of creation can provide an answer to whether and when his work is authentic. What do works created from such reflections look like, when we ask ourselves: “Do you want to be a (top) artist?”
Entries can be submitted in one of three categories:
- individual works for exhibition in all formats
- performative program in the space of the Art Pavilion “CvijetaZuzorić”
- speech program or presentations of artwork on the stage of the exhibition lasting up to 45 minutes (projector, lighting, sound system provided) or recorded presentations up to 30 minutes
It is possible to present various works that belong to the domain of expanded media, such as video, experimental film, performance, various forms of multimedia, digital photography, street art , mail art, interactive installations (works realized through computers, microphones, electronic sensors, networking), art of software and applications, etc.
The competition is open to all artists, and each author or art group has the right to submit up to two works for the exhibition.
The application should contain:
– filled in application form (attached),
– visual presentation of the work – insert from the proposed work in .mp4, .jpg, .wav format or a link to the visual and textual documentation.
