Summer School as School 2023 offers one- and two-week courses and public programs that promote engagement with and dissemination of critical content in context, exchange between and with students and faculty, and outreach in the arts and academic programs.
With the Summer School as School, Stacion – Centre for Contemporary Art Prishtina, together with partner institutions and faculty, has created a unique international platform based in Prishtina that takes into account the socio-political context, develops an interdisciplinary curriculum and involves practitioners to share knowledge and experience with local and international students and the public.
Originally inspired by the case of Kosovo, where the education system was structured in the mid-1970s, Summer School as School is designed to bring together and disseminate critical knowledge and address relevant contemporary challenges, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.
Presently, Summer School as School is the leading regional collaborative platform in art and discourse production, and a model that unites the capacity of the region of Southeastern Europe engaged international faculty and partner institutions to produce and disseminate an interdisciplinary model of education and art collaboration.
Having run the Summer School as School with great success in previous years, this year’s edition builds on the diverse perspectives and experiences that theoretically and practically reflect and challenge ongoing regional history and its connections to broader artistic, political, and social developments. By inviting situations that transcend the normal creative and intellectual boundaries, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, with the Summer School as a school, seeks to interweave knowledge and (re)position Kosovo and the region of Southeast Europe in relation to its international and global coordinates.
